The mechanisms by which Geobacter sulfurreducens transfers electrons through relatively thick (>50 microm) biofilms to electrodes acting as a sole electron acceptor were investigated. Biofilms of Geobacter sulfurreducens were grown either in flow-through

Mechanism of the Enzymic Reduction of N_2: The Binding of Adenosine 5'-Triphosphate and Cyanide to the N_2-reducing System [PDF]
The in vitro reduction of N_2 is a complex process involving at least six different reactants: two proteins [1,2] for which the names azoferredoxin (AzoFd) and molybdoferredoxin (MoFd) have been proposed[3], an electron source, the electron acceptor, ATP[

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Measurement of the ground-state distributions in bistable mechanically interlocked molecules using slow scan rate cyclic voltammetry [PDF]
In donor–acceptor mechanically interlocked molecules that exhibit bistability, the relative populations of the translational isomers—present, for example, in a bistable [2]rotaxane, as well as in a couple of bistable [2]catenanes of the donor–acceptor ...

Laser Metal Deposited Ti4822 Hollow Pipe: Experimental and Computational Modelling Study
Laser metal deposition (LMD) of a crack‐free built Ti4822 alloys is challenging. This article reports outstanding characteristics of a hollow pipe that is built with LMD technology when a predicted, nontransformation substrate temperature of 800 °C is used.

Short-Lived Electron Transfer in Donor-Bridge-Acceptor Systems
We investigate time-dependent electron transfer (ET) in benchmark donor-bridge-acceptor systems. For the small bridge sizes studied, we obtain results far different from the perturbation theory which underlies scattering-based approaches, notably a lack ...

A donor-acceptor (D-A) type indoline dye, D149, was used as an electron donor in solution-processed organic solar cells (OSCs). For bulk-heterojunction (BHJ) type OSCs with PC70BM as electron acceptor, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) is sensitive ...
