Ultrafast light-induced response of photoactive yellow protein chromophore analogues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The fluorescence decays of several analogues of the photoactive yellow protein (PYP) chromophore in aqueous solution have been measured by femtosecond fluorescence up-conversion and the corresponding time-resolved fluorescence spectra have been ...

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Can Ti‐Based MXenes Serve as Solid Lubricants for Brake Applications? A Tribological Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the first implementation of Ti‐based MXenes materials in brake pad friction composite material. The resulting composite material exhibits a 48% reduction in the wear rate; alongside significant improvements are observed for thermal and mechanical properties.

Comparison Study of Wide Bandgap Polymer (PBDB-T) and Narrow Bandgap Polymer (PBDTTT-EFT) as Donor for Perylene Diimide Based Polymer Solar Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2018
Perylene diimide (PDI) derivatives as a kind of promising non-fullerene-based acceptor (NFA) have got rapid development. However, most of the relevant developmental work has focused on synthesizing novel PDI-based structures, and few paid attentions to ...

A multideterminant assessment of mean field methods for the description of electron transfer in the weak coupling regime

open access: yes, 2009
Multideterminant calculations have been performed on model systems to emphasize the role of many-body effects in the general description of charge quantization experiments. We show numerically and derive analytically that a closed-shell ansatz, the usual

Understanding the Nucleophilic Character and Stability of the Carbanions and Alkoxides of 1-(9-Anthryl)ethanol and Derivatives

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
The nucleophilic character and stability of the carbanions vs. alkoxides derived from 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(9-anthryl)ethanol and 1-(9-anthryl)ethanol containing X electron-releasing and X electron-acceptor substituents attached to C-10, have been studied ...

Removing Homocoupling Defects in Alkoxy/Alkyl‐PBTTT Enhances Polymer:Fullerene Co‐Crystal Formation and Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PBTTT‐OR‐R, a C14‐alkoxy/alkyl‐PBTTT polymer derivative, is of substantial interest for optoelectronics due to its specific fullerene intercalation behavior and enhanced charge‐transfer absorption. Comparing this polymer with (S) and without (O) homocoupling defects reveals that PBTTT‐OR‐R(O) forms stable co‐crystals with PC61BM, while PBTTT‐OR‐R(S ...

Non-Hermitian approach for modeling of noise-assisted quantum electron transfer in photosynthetic complexes

open access: yes, 2012
We model the quantum electron transfer (ET) in the photosynthetic reaction center (RC), using a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian approach. Our model includes (i) two protein cofactors, donor and acceptor, with discrete energy levels and (ii) a third protein ...
