Isomerization enabling near-infrared electron acceptors

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2019
An isomerization method is utilized to yield a novel near-infrared nonfullerene acceptor DTA-IC-M which shows a remarkable absorption redshift of ∼170 nm compared to its isomer, leading to a narrow bandgap of 1.35 eV.

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

Theory of photoinduced charge transfer in weakly coupled donor-acceptor conjugated polymers: application to an MEH-PPV:CN-PPV pair

open access: yes, 1997
In a pair of coupled donor-acceptor conjugated polymer chains, it is possible for an exciton photoexcited on either polymer to decay into a hole in the donor polymer's valence band and an electron in the conduction band of the acceptor polymer.

Analyzing Electronic Excitations and Exciton Binding Energies in Y6 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Y6 molecule is used for increasing the efficiency of organic solar cells. The exciton binding energy is calculated for ensembles of Y6 molecules that are representative of the typically used films. The calculations show that the excitons typically spread out over many molecules.

III-V photocathode with nitrogen doping for increased quantum efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
An increase in the quantum efficiency of a 3-5 photocathode is achieved by doping its semiconductor material with an acceptor and nitrogen, a column-5 isoelectronic element, that introduces a spatially localized energy level just below the conduction ...

Linear and Hyperbranched Electron‐Acceptor Supramolecular Oligomers

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, 2011
AbstractThe nanometric organization of p‐type and n‐type materials is expected to facilitate charge mobility in OSCs, thereby preventing recombination and enhancing efficiency. Herein, the synthesis and self‐assembly of monomers comprising one or two units of a TCAQ tweezer covalently connected to a fullerene derivative is reported. Such molecules self‐

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Electrical photosemiconducting and paramagnetic properties of polypyromellitimides [PDF]

open access: yes
Semiconducting properties with dark and photoconductivity, type r, were observed in polypyromellitimides (PPMI) and explained by a donor-acceptor interreaction in the PPMI between electron acceptor promellitimide fragments and electron donor diamide in ...
