Electron Donor-Induced Electrochemical Reduction in Vanadate Anions to Enhance the Electrochemical Performance of Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation Layers

open access: yesMetals
Despite the increasing interest in enhancing the electrochemical stability of Al alloys through protective coatings, the role of electron donor agents during coating formation remains poorly understood in terms of morphological control and anticorrosion ...

29Si nuclear spins as a resource for donor spin qubits in silicon

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
Nuclear spin registers in the vicinity of electron spins in solid state systems offer a powerful resource to address the challenge of scalability in quantum architectures. We investigate here the properties of ^29 Si nuclear spins surrounding donor atoms

Spin splitting of X-related donor impurity states in an AlAs barrier

open access: yes, 2005
We use magnetotunneling spectroscopy to observe the spin splitting of the ground state of an X-valley-related Si-donor impurity in an AlAs barrier. We determine the absolute magnitude of the effective Zeeman spin splitting factors of the impurity ground ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Caproate Production from Yellow Water Fermentation: The Decisive Roles of Electron Donors

open access: yesFermentation
Caproate is a valuable medium-chain fatty acid (MCFA) that is found to be extensively used in biofuel production, food preservation, and the pharmaceutical industries. Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) from waste streams can be upgraded sustainably through

Photon Antibunching and Magnetospectroscopy of a Single Fluorine Donor in ZnSe

open access: yes, 2010
We report on the optical investigation of single electron spins bound to fluorine donor impurities in ZnSe. Measurements of photon antibunching establish the presence of single, isolated optical emitters, and magneto-optical studies are consistent with ...

Interplay between RNA‐protein interactions and RNA structures in gene regulation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Methodological advances in mapping transcriptome‐wide RNA‐protein interactions and RNA structures have started to uncover the potential of RNP conformations in gene regulation. Competing RNA–RNA, RNA‐protein and protein–protein interactions shape the compaction and function of RNPs throughout their lifetime and may provide novel therapeutic targets in ...

Short-Lived Electron Transfer in Donor-Bridge-Acceptor Systems

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate time-dependent electron transfer (ET) in benchmark donor-bridge-acceptor systems. For the small bridge sizes studied, we obtain results far different from the perturbation theory which underlies scattering-based approaches, notably a lack ...
