Mediation of Long Range Charge Transfer by Kondo Bound States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present a theory of non-equilibrium long range charge transfer between donor and acceptor centers in a model polymer mediated by magnetic exciton (Kondo) bound states. Our model produces electron tunneling lengths easily exceeding 10$\AA$, as observed

Characteristic Activity Parameters of Electron Donors and Electron Acceptors

open access: yesACS Physical Chemistry Au, 2023
It is well-known that for an electron transfer reaction, the electron-donating ability of electron donors and the electron-accepting ability of electron acceptors can be quantitatively described by the oxidation potential of electron donors and the reduction potential of electron acceptors.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Spin-orbit coupling induced two-electron relaxation in silicon donor pairs

open access: yes, 2017
We unravel theoretically a key intrinsic relaxation mechanism among the low-lying singlet and triplet donor-pair states in silicon, an important element in the fast-developing field of spintronics and quantum computation.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Study on treatment mechanism of high sulphate mine water with different applied voltages

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Acid mine water (AMD) can cause many environmental and social problems. The high sulfate ion content in AMD is one of the key factors contributing to contamination.

Geobacter sulfurreducens metabolism at different donor/acceptor ratios

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, 2022
Geobacter species have great application potential in remediation processes and electrobiotechnology. In all applications, understanding the metabolism will enable target‐oriented optimization of the processes.

Impact of the valley degree of freedom on the control of donor electrons near a Si/SiO_2 interface

open access: yes, 2012
We analyze the valley composition of one electron bound to a shallow donor close to a Si/barrier interface as a function of an applied electric field. A full six-valley effective mass model Hamiltonian is adopted.

Neutral Organic Super Electron Donors Made Catalytic [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2019
AbstractNeutral organic super electron donors (SEDs) display impressive reducing power but, until now, it has not been possible to use them catalytically in radical chain reactions. This is because, following electron transfer, these donors form persistent radical cations that trap substrate‐derived radicals.
