Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

A High-Brightness Thermionic Microwave Electron Gun

open access: yes, 1991
In a collaborative effort by SSRL, AET Associates, and Varian Associates, a high-brightness microwave electron gun using a thermionic cathode has been designed, built, tested, and installed for use with the SSRL 150 MeV linear accelerator.

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Emittance growth due to multipole transverse magnetic modes in an rf gun

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2011
Cylindrical asymmetry of an rf gun cavity excites the multipole rf field which will result in emittance growth of electron beams. With demanding of electron beams of ultralow emittance for the x-ray free electron laser, it is necessary to study the ...

Stable Protein‐Based G‐Quadruplex‐Derived Supramolecular Bioinks as Tunable ECM‐Mimetic Constructs Assembled by Combining Non‐Covalent and Covalent Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Harnessing the synergistic interplay of supramolecular self‐assembly, under macromolecular crowding conditions, and enzymatic‐mediated covalent crosslinking toward a stable protein‐based G‐quadruplex‐derived supramolecular bioink. This bioinspired strategy enables the biofabrication of complex and tunable ECM‐mimetic constructs, providing a platform ...

Systematic study of multipactor suppression techniques for a superconducting rf gun

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams, 2018
Future light sources such as synchrotron radiation sources driven by an energy recovery linac, free electron lasers, or THz radiation sources have in common that they require injectors, which provide high-brilliance, high-current electron beams in almost

Pulser for the Tevatron electron lens gun [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
To compensate for beam-beam interaction in Tevatron, an ''electron lens'' is considered to be an effective instrument. When a bunch of electrons with energy in the range (10-16) kV is overlapping with a bunch of antiprotons, the resulting focusing force ...

Direct Synthesis of High‐Valence Protein@UiO‐66 Composites: Linking Crystallization Pathways to Protein Encapsulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work reports a direct, biocompatible method to synthesize UiO‐66, enabling one‐step encapsulation of proteins without compromising crystallinity or activity. Using advanced in situ and ex situ techniques, the study reveals that proteins integrate concurrently with MOF growth, forming crystalline protein@UiO‐66 nanoparticles, and provide insight ...
