Single Crystal Growth of Skutterudite CoP3 under High Pressure

open access: yes, 2003
A new method to grow single crystals of skutterudite compounds is examined. Using a wedge-type, cubic-anvil, high-pressure apparatus, single crystals of CoP3 were grown from stoichiometric melts under a pressure of 3.5 GPa.

Marine tephrochronology: a personal perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This special volume on marine tephrochronology is remarkable, and timely, because it marks a concerted step towards what might be informally termed ‘phase 3’ of a revolution in Quaternary geosciences that began around 40 years ago.

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Linking gemology and spectral geology: a case study of elbaites from Seridó Pegmatite Province, Northeastern Brazil

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Geology, 2019
reflectance spectroscopy is a fast tool for mineral identification and classification. We conducted spectral characterization of elbaite samples (n = 30) from Seridó Pegmatite Province, Borborema Province, NE Brazil, using a FieldSpec portable instrument

Unlocking Photodetection Mode Switching from a Simple Lateral Design

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A simple lateral 2D perovskite photodetector capable of switching among transient, continuous, and dual transient/continuous photoresponse modes is achieved by integrating photoconductive effects with capacitive coupling from the SiO2/Si substrate. Such light‐programmable photodetection mode switching enables triple‐channel information transmission and

Unlocking Multi‐Valley Energy Pockets and Interface‐Induced Phonon Filtering in InSb Thermoelectrics by Reaction‐Driven Interface Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
InSb, a narrow‐bandgap semiconductor with high carrier mobility, is promising for thermoelectric energy conversion but suffers from high lattice thermal conductivity and strong bipolar conduction. Here, in situ interface engineering using Co2O3 nanoprecursors forms hierarchical CoSbx/In2O3/CoSb3 heterostructures that enhance phonon scattering and ...

A Method for Estimating Micro-area Composition of Quartz-diorite Based on Quantitative Mapping of Electron Probe Microanalysis

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2022
BACKGROUND The estimation of bulk composition of the micro-area of a rock is an important basis of tracing rock evolution. The conventional electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) mapping method cannot provide quantitative analysis results of the surface ...

2D Co‐Mo‐Hydroxide‐Based Multifunctional Material for the Development of H2‐Based Clean Energy Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2D α‐Co(OH)2 interleaved with Mo species displays an appealing dual functionality for the production and use of green hydrogen.Mo incorporation greatly benefits the electrochemical behaviour in Oxygen Evolution Reaction for H2 production, while the magnetocaloric response at liquid H2 temperature paves the way for alternative cryogenic refrigerants ...
