Changes in perfusion and permeability in glioblastoma model induced by the anti-angiogenic agents cediranib and thalidomide

open access: yesActa Oncologica
Background and purpose: The poor delivery of drugs to infiltrating tumor cells contributes to therapeutic failure in glioblastoma. During the early phase of an anti-angiogenic treatment, a remodeling of the tumor vasculature could occur, leading to a ...

Harnessing the Orientation of Columnar Discotic Liquid Crystals for Narrowband Blue Emission with Enhanced Out‐Coupling Efficiency Toward Improvement of SP‐OLEDs Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed OLEDs containing discotic liquid‐crystalline MR‐TADF emitters are reported. Supramolecular self‐assembly induces homeotropic columnar alignment, enforcing preferential horizontal orientation of the emitter transition dipole moment in spin‐coated films, which leads to an enhancement in the device light outcoupling efficiency while ...

Anisotropic electron spin resonance of YbIr2Si2

open access: yes, 2010
A series of electron spin resonance (ESR) experiments were performed on a single crystal of the heavy fermion metal YbIr2Si2 to map out the anisotropy of the ESR-intensity I_ESR which is governed by the microwave field component of the g-factor.

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Renormalization of spin-rotation coupling

open access: yes, 2013
We predict the enhancement of the spin-rotation coupling due to the interband mixing. The Bloch wavefunctions in the presence of mechanical rotation are constructed with the generalized crystal momentum which includes a gauge potential arising from the ...

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

Long spin lifetimes of charge carriers in rubrene crystals due to fast transient-localization motion

open access: yesNature Communications
Field-induced electron spin resonance provides valuable insights into the interplay between spin and charge dynamics in organic semiconductors. We apply this technique to ion-gel-gated capacitors and conventional field-effect transistors to study the ...

In Situ Amidation‐Derived Interfacial Modulation for Homogeneous Ultra‐High Nanoparticle Loading Toward Robust and Flexible Piezoelectric Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Synergistic interfacial strategy between inorganic ceramic fillers and polymer chains effectively inhibit particle aggregation and interfacial incompatibility. complex covalent and non‐covalent interfacial interactions promote superior uniformity, ultra‐high ceramic filler loading, and strong grain‐to‐grain connectivity, thereby enabling the ...

Optical detection of single electron spin resonance in a quantum dot

open access: yes, 2007
We demonstrate optically detected spin resonance of a single electron confined to a self-assembled quantum dot. The dot is rendered dark by resonant optical pumping of the spin with a coherent laser. Contrast is restored by applying a radio frequency (rf)
