Computational Study of the Coupling Performances for a Long-Distance Vertical Grating Coupler

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
We present a high-efficiency silicon grating coupler design based on a left–right mirror-symmetric grating and a metal mirror. The coupler achieves nearly perfect 90-degree vertical coupling.

A simple circuit realization of the tent map

open access: yes, 2009
We present a very simple electronic implementation of the tent map, one of the best-known discrete dynamical systems. This is achieved by using integrated circuits and passive elements only. The experimental behavior of the tent map electronic circuit is

Shil'nikov Chaos control using Homoclinic orbits and the Newhouse region

open access: yes, 2006
A method of controlling Shil'nikov's type chaos using windows that appear in the 1 dimensional bifurcation diagram when perturbations are applied, and using existence of stable homoclinic orbits near the unstable one is presented and applied to the ...

An Examination of Aerosol Jet‐Printed Surface Roughness and its Impact on the Performance of High‐Frequency Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores aerosol jet‐printed (AJP) surface roughness, its effects on the performance of microwave electronics, and its process contributors. First, an electromagnetic model is vetted for AJP's unique roughness signature. Simulations are built which show process‐induced roughness is as significant as conductor resistivity in driving microwave

High‐Resolution Reverse Offset Printed Electroluminescent Multipixel Arrays for Scalable Future Wearable Displays

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the effects of pixel size and spacing when fabricating electroluminescent (EL) multipixel displays. COMSOL simulations identify the impact of pixel dimensions and spacing on electric field distribution and lighting efficiency. Flexible, high‐resolution EL pixel arrays are reverse offset printed, achieving a 96% reduction in pixel ...

An improved kT/C noise cancellation technique with presampling for high‐speed SAR ADCs

open access: yesElectronics Letters
The kT/C noise cancellation technique can effectively reduce the digital‐to‐analog converter (DAC) size for successive approximation register ADCs and thus relax the burden for input drivers and reference buffers.
