Abstract The well‐being of medical physicists can impact overall system performance, patient safety, and quality of patient care. There are limited formal assessments of factors contributing to physicists well‐being. Nine medical physicists at a US academic medical center were surveyed on 21 workplace factors, drawn from the National Academy of ...

Abstract Purpose This study aims to develop a CycleGAN based denoising model to enhance the quality of low‐dose PET (LDPET) images, making them as close as possible to standard‐dose PET (SDPET) images. Methods Using a Philips Vereos PET/CT system, whole‐body PET images of fluorine‐18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F‐FDG) were acquired from 37 patients to ...

Piezoelectric electron-phonon interaction in impure semiconductors: 2D electrons versus composite fermions [PDF]
We develop a unified treatment of the piesoelectric coupling between two-dimensional electrons and bulk phonons in both cases of zero and strong magnetic fields, the latter corresponding to even denominator filling fractions. In contrast to the case of coupling via the deformation potential, the leading contributions due to impurity-renormalized ...

Million Atom Electronic Structure and Device Calculations on Peta-Scale Computers
Semiconductor devices are scaled down to the level which constituent materials are no longer considered continuous. To account for atomistic randomness, surface effects and quantum mechanical effects, an atomistic modeling approach needs to be pursued ...

UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase variants cause dystroglycanopathy
Abstract UDP‐glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) variants have been associated with hypotonia, developmental delay, and epilepsy. We report the first pathologic evidence of dystroglycanopathy in siblings with UGDH variants. Both presented around 6 months with developmental delay and elevated creatinine kinase.

Claustrum Volume Is Reduced in Multiple Sclerosis and Predicts Disability
ABSTRACT Objective The claustrum is a small, thin structure of predominantly gray matter with broad connectivity and enigmatic function. Little is known regarding the impact of claustrum pathology in multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods This study assessed whether claustrum volume was reduced in MS and whether reductions were associated with specific ...
