Topological Crystalline Insulator Nanomembrane with Strain-Tunable Band Gap [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The ability to fine-tune band gap and band inversion in topological materials is highly desirable for the development of novel functional devices. Here we propose that the electronic properties of a free-standing nanomembrane of topological crystalline ...

Optimal quantum interference thermoelectric heat engine with edge states [PDF]

open access: yesPhys. Rev. Lett. 118, 256801 (2017), 2016
We show theoretically that a thermoelectric heat engine, operating exclusively due to quantum-mechanical interference, can reach optimal linear-response performance. A chiral edge state implementation of a close-to-optimal heat engine is proposed in an electronic Mach-Zehnder interferometer with a mesoscopic capacitor coupled to one arm.
