Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

The Electronic Health Record Scorecard: A Measure of Utilization and Communication Skills [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
As the adoption rate of electronic health records (EHRs) in the United States continues to grow, both providers and patients will need to adapt to the reality of a third actor being present during the visit encounter.

Hybrid electronic health records [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The research related with digital health records has been a hot topic since the last two decades, producing diverse results, particularly in two main types – Electronic Health Records and Personal Health Records.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Electronic Health Record-Based Surveillance for Community Transmitted COVID-19 in the Emergency Department [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Introduction: SARS-CoV-2, a novel coronavirus, manifests as a respiratory syndrome (COVID-19) and is the cause of an ongoing pandemic. The response to COVID-19 in the United States has been hampered by an overall lack of diagnostic testing capacity.

Canadian Journey to a National Electronic Health Record [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Report detailing Canada's journey towards its national EHR. Canada has chosen to utilise hub-and-spoke repositories over point-to-point information exchange systems.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Long-term impact of maternal pre-pregnancy BMI on the risk of overweight/obesity in preschool children: mediation by infant birth weight and BMI trajectory group from 0 to 2 years

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background Obesity is a complex multisystem disease that affects almost every organ system. Studying the early determinants of obesity and implementing targeted interventions have positive implications for promoting long-term health.

Detecting clinically meaningful biomarkers with repeated measurements in an Electronic Health Record [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Electronic health record (EHR) data are becoming an increasingly common data source for understanding clinical risk of acute events. While their longitudinal nature presents opportunities to observe changing risk over time, these analyses are complicated

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.
