Vibration analysis of logs with electronic speckle pattern interferometry

Applied Optics, 1997
Electronic speckle pattern interferometry combined with phase-shifting techniques for vibration analysis of logs is presented. Changes in the vibration pattern were followed on a television monitor at the video rate. We determined resonant vibrations by scanning through the frequency range of interest and by changing the point of excitation.

"Continuous" Pulsed Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry

SPIE Proceedings, 1987
Holography and allied techliques such as electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) have the potential to provide the engineer with a powerful measuring technique. Why, therefore, is it not a technique readily available and widely used? Several arguments can be put forward; complexity, skill level, ease of use, in-situ capability, and ability to ...

Holography and electronic speckle pattern interferometry in geophysics

Optics and Lasers in Engineering, 1996
Abstract Geophysical applications of holography and ESPI are reviewed. First, laboratory experiments of rock deformation and failure with holographic interferometry and holographic in situ stressmeters are briefly summarized. Then, holographic measurements of tunnel deformations made in Japan are described.

Flow visualizations using electronic speckle pattern interferometry

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017
Imaging air flow in and around a musical instrument is a difficult task, but it can be important for understanding the physics associated with sound production as well as verifying the accuracy of computer simulations. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) has been successfully used to image air flow, but it requires expensive equipment, extensive technical

First-order statistics of displayed speckle patterns in electronic speckle pattern interferometry

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1981
The first-order probability density functions of displayed speckle patterns in electronic speckle pattern interferometry are calculated. We show that in specular-reference-beam setups the brightness in the displayed pattern is always (χ)2 distributed. For speckle-reference-beam setups the probability density depends on the effective resolution of the ...

The Use of Linear Arrays in Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry

SPIE Proceedings, 1990
Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) offers high resolution displacement information of objects by analysis of the relative phase between a reference beam of light and an object beam of light at two or more instants in time. The sampling of the data is usually performed with two-dimensional solid-state arrays. Use of a one-dimensional array,
