Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Coherent multidimensional spectroscopy in the gas phase

open access: yes, 2019
Recent work applying multidimentional coherent electronic spectroscopy at dilute samples in the gas phase is reviewed. The development of refined phase-cycling approaches with improved sensitivity has opened-up new opportunities to probe even dilute gas ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Effectiveness of rTMS on Working Memory and Inhibitory Impairments in Patients With Post‐Stroke Executive Deficits

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Considerable efforts have been dedicated to developing effective treatments for post‐stroke executive impairment (PSEI), among which repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has shown great potential. This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of high‐frequency rTMS on working memory (WM) and response ...

Microsolvation of Molecules in Superfluid Helium Nanodroplets Revealed by Means of Electronic Spectroscopy

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2014
The empirical model explaining microsolvation of molecules in superfluid helium droplets proposes a non-superfluid helium solvation layer enclosing the dopant molecule.

Electronic structures of layered perovskite Sr2MO4 (M=Ru, Rh, and Ir)

open access: yes, 2006
We investigated the electronic structures of the two-dimensional layered perovskite Sr$_{2}$\textit{M}O$_{4}$ (\textit{M}=4\textit{d} Ru, 4\textit{d} Rh, and 5\textit{d} Ir) using optical spectroscopy and polarization-dependent O 1\textit{s} x-ray ...

Real‐World Longitudinal Data on the Impact of Hydroxychloroquine Blood Level Monitoring on Lupus Outcomes: Results of a Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a cornerstone therapy in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but the weight‐based dosing does not account for clinical factors that can introduce individual variability in drug metabolism and clearance. We leveraged longitudinal data from a prospective SLE cohort to identify clinical factors that predict ...

Condensation of eigenmodes in functional brain network and its correlation to chimera state

open access: yesCommunications Physics, 2023
Condensation has long been a closely studied problem in statistical physics but little attention has been paid to neural science. Here, we discuss this problem in brain networks and discover the condensation of a functional brain network whereby all its ...
