ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE AND LUMINESCENCE OF CSI:NA [PDF]
Calculations are performed on several aspects of the luminescence of pure CsI and CsI:Na. These include electronic-structure calculations by both pseudopotential and semi-empirical molecular-orbital methods, as well as lattice-configuration studies.

Electronic structure of MnSi: The role of electron-electron interactions
We present an experimental study of the electronic structure of MnSi. Using x-ray absorption spectroscopy XAS, x-ray photoemission, and x-ray fluorescence, we provide experimental evidence that MnSi has a mixed valence ground state. We show that self-consistent local density approximation supercell calculations cannot replicate the XAS spectra of MnSi,

Graph-based linear scaling electronic structure theory [PDF]
We show how graph theory can be combined with quantum theory to calculate the electronic structure of large complex systems. The graph formalism is general and applicable to a broad range of electronic structure methods and materials, including ...

On the Structure of the Electron [PDF]
Usually the electron is described as a mathematical point with charge, mass, spin angular momentum, and electromagnetic field. Because of the unbounded energies this causes mathematical difficulties [1]. These can be avoided by considering a finite radius.

OpenFermion: the electronic structure package for quantum computers [PDF]
Quantum simulation of chemistry and materials is predicted to be an important application for both near-term and fault-tolerant quantum devices. However, at present, developing and studying algorithms for these problems can be difficult due to the ...

Antireflection coated semiconductor laser amplifier for Bose-Einstein condensation experiments
We present a slave laser highly suitable for the preparation and detection of 87Rb Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC). A highly anti-reflection coated laser diode serves as an optical amplifier, which requires neither active temperature stabilization nor ...

Exciton coherence lifetimes from electronic structure [PDF]
We model the coherent energy transfer of an electronic excitation within covalently linked aromatic homodimers from first-principles, to answer whether the usual models of the bath calculated via detailed electronic structure calculations can reproduce ...

Miniaturized Wideband CP Antenna Using Hybrid Embedded Metasurface Structure
In this study, a hybrid embedded metasurface (MTS) structure is proposed and applied to realize a miniaturized MTS antenna. In contrast to the conventional periodic rectangular MTS, the proposed MTS structure is formed by hybrid embedded patches composed
