An Architecture for Electronic Throttle Control Systems

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2003
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper presents an architecture for monitoring and controlling an electronic throttle control system. The architecture contains two processors, the MAIN and the MCP. The MAIN is responsible for calculating the desired throttle position and the MCP for positioning the throttle using feedback control.

Multiphysical Design Approach for Automotive Electronic Throttle Body

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2020
Companies always search for alternative solutions for designing mechatronic systems in more efficient ways to cope with the high-performance standards, competitive market, and design time reduction. In this article, we present a complete multiphysical approach to design and validate an electronic throttle body (ETB) system in a concurrent way. Our goal

Dynamic surface control of electronic throttle

2015 International Conference on Recent Developments in Control, Automation and Power Engineering (RDCAPE), 2015
In recent times electronic throttles are more and more important in automotive engines so as to achieve better fuel economy, minimum vehicle emission and good drivability. One of the major component inside an automobile engine is throttle valve. The control of electronic throttle is actually the control of movement of plate through which amount of air ...

Electronic throttle control for ride-by-wire in sport motorcycles

2008 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2008
This paper presents the analysis and the design of the servo-controller for an electronic throttle body (ETB) designed for ride-by-wire applications in racing motorcycles. Specifically, the open-loop dynamics of the system is studied in detail discussing the effects of friction.

Electronic throttle andwastegate control for turbocharged gasoline engines

Proceedings of the 2005, American Control Conference, 2005., 2005
Turbocharging of gasoline engines has gained renewed popularity as a means to improve fuel economy and CO/sub 2/ emissions. Modern engines have advanced technology actuators such as electronic throttle and variable valve timing, in addition to wastegate.

Application of a modified error governor to electronic throttle control

2017 22nd International Conference on Methods and Models in Automation and Robotics (MMAR), 2017
The control of an electronic throttle in an automotive vehicle is considered in this paper. Due to a saturation non-linearity in the control loop, a nominal controller produces undesired windup effects. Because of mechanical restrictions, especially windup-induced overshoots of the throttle plate angle should be prevented.

Power output monitoring for vehicles equipped with electronic throttle

Proceedings of the 2001 American Control Conference. (Cat. No.01CH37148), 2001
Vehicles equipped with electronic throttle control (ETC) systems are entering the automotive marketplace for several reasons, including improved fuel economy (early transmission upshifts, lean-burn combustion, variable displacement engines), drivability (improved pedal response, altitude compensation, traction control), and emissions (controlled tip-in/

Neural Network Based Sliding Mode Control of Electronic Throttle

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2004
In this paper a neural network based sliding mode controller for electronic throttle is proposed. Uncertainties/disturbances consisting of unknown friction and spring torque are approximated with a neural network in an on-line fashion. Control and adaptive laws guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the system.

A Compact Electronic-Throttle-Control Actuator with a Throttle-Position Sensor Integrated Plastic Cover

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2002
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A potentiometer-type throttle-position sensor, wiring, a connector, and a cover for the throttle drive mechanism are integrated in order to reduce the size of an electronic-throttle-control actuator. The throttle-position sensor inside the integrated cover showed a large signal deviation when the environmental ...

The safety assurance of the AJV8 electronic throttle

IEE Colloquium on The Electrical System of the Jaguar XK8, 1996
The electronic throttle is a major innovation of the AJV8 engine in the Jaguar XK8 vehicle. Although essentially transparent to the driver, it moves Jaguar into new territory, and has often been referred to in the past as “drive-by-wire”. Jaguar, in partnership with the Dense Corporation, has developed a system that while still offering a simple ...
