Intertidal Warfare: Synergistic Allelopathy Mediates Spatial Competition between Two Marine Calcareous‐Shelled Sessile Organisms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a hidden chemical weapon among calcareous‐shelled sessile organisms in the intertidal zone: the barnacle Balanus albicostatus releases a synergistic blend of palmitic acid and 1‐palmitoyl‐sn‐glycero‐3‐phosphocholine as the allelochemical with the inhibitory activity against attachment of the mussel Vignadula atrata, which may mediate

Laboratory bistatic synthetic aperture radar coherent change detection investigation

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2023
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Coherent Change Detection (CCD) allows for the detection of very small scene changes. This is particularly useful for reconnaissance and surveillance as small changes such as vehicle tracks can be identified.

Modern and Ancient Genomes Reveal Neolithic Paternal Expansions of Millet and Rice Farmers and Demic Diffusion from China into Mainland Southeast Asia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study clarifies the genetic patterns of paternal lineages across East Asia and Mainland Southeast Asia. Han populations are relatively homogeneous, whereas southern ethnolinguistic minorities display regional structures. Shared Y‐chromosome lineages indicate Neolithic expansions and extensive north‐south gene flow, supporting demic diffusion ...

A Soft, Flexible Implant for Wireless Photothermal–Pyroelectric Neurostimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A replication strategy is used to enlarge the exposed surface area of barium titanate within flexible films with embedded carbon nanotubes, enabling efficient photothermal‐pyroelectric stimulation. Polar crystalline nanosheets show superior performance in guiding neural progenitor cells toward neuronal differentiation.

Modelling real‐world effects in near‐field SAR collections for compressive sensing

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
The ability to control sidelobes in a SAR image is critical to forming images that are useful for interpretation and exploitation. QinetiQ has developed the RIBI sensing system, which utilises a distributed coherent array of sensors to produce ...

VECTOR-SPACE APPROACH TO EVALUATION OF THE EFFICIENCY OF USE OF RADIOELECTRONIC CONTROLS

open access: yesСучасні інформаційні системи, 2019
The intensive development of information and control technologies, as well as their integration into a single information space, leads to an increase in the role of such technologies in the processes of control of troops (forces) and weapons, including ...

A Subset of Pro‐inflammatory CXCL10+ LILRB2+ Macrophages Derives From Recipient Monocytes and Drives Renal Allograft Rejection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers a recipient‐derived monocyte‐to‐macrophage trajectory that drives inflammation during kidney transplant rejection. Using over 150 000 single‐cell profiles and more than 850 biopsies, the authors identify CXCL10+ macrophages as key predictors of graft loss.

Mini/Micro UAV detection in the presence of ISM or spurious signals and an experimental application on an SDR

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal
In recent years, Mini/Micro UAVs have started to become a major concern and threat to the public, which made the need of detection and classification of them inevitable.

Copper Contact for Perovskite Solar Cells: Properties, Interfaces, and Scalable Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Copper electrodes, as low‐cost, scalable contacts for perovskite solar cells, offer several advantages over precious metals such as Au and Ag, including performance, cost, deposition methods, and interfacial engineering. Copper (Cu) electrodes are increasingly considered practical, sustainable alternatives to noble‐metal contacts in perovskite solar ...
