Reconfigurable Au Nanoparticle Monolayers on Regenerated Cellulose Hydrogels: Highly Sensitive SERS Detection of Polystyrene Micro/Nanoplastics With Interpretable Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A regenerated cellulose (RC) hydrogel‐based SERS substrate integrating a Marangoni‐transferred gold nanoparticle self‐assembled monolayer (Au‐SAM) is fabricated. Reswelling‐induced hotspot formation enhances polystyrene micro/nanoplastics (PS MNPs) detection in complex matrices, providing reproducible, high‐throughput SERS signals across diverse ...

Interface Engineering for Integrated Valorization of Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries and Complex Electronic Waste: A Focus on Hydrothermal, PVC-Assisted, and Membrane Processes

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The recycling of spent lithium-ion batteries and selected complex electronic waste fractions is commonly evaluated using isolated metrics such as leaching yield, metal removal efficiency, and reagent consumption.

Solution‐Processed Mn‐Doped 2d Perovskite Wavelength Shifters for Noble‐Liquid Photon Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed Mn2+‐doped PEA2PbBr4 two‐dimensional perovskite films are demonstrated as large‐area wavelength shifters for noble‐liquid photon detectors. Mn2+ incorporation introduces a broad emission band at ∼620 nm with a large Stokes shift, suppressing self‐absorption and matching SiPM sensitivity.

Decoupling Electron and Phonon Transport in 3D‐Printed Bismuth Telluride via Synergistic Compositional Co‐Enrichment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we use direct ink writing (DIW) to 3D print Bi2Te3‐based materials and naturally induce hierarchical functional nanostructures, which reduced the lattice thermal conductivity by half, resulting in high zT of 0.87and 0.89 in p‐type and n‐type compounds, respectively, competitive with commercial materials.

Multispectral Sensor Fusion and YOLO-Family Benchmarking in PCB Component Detection: Challenges, State of the Art, and Future Directions

open access: yesMachines
The worldwide spread of semiconductor devices has driven a surge in electronic waste (e-waste), which reached 62 million metric tons in 2022 and is projected to exceed 80 million metric tons by 2030.

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

Pilot Multi-Matrix Biomonitoring of Mixed Mercury Exposure Pathways Among E-Waste Dismantling Workers in South China

open access: yesToxics
Informal electronic-waste (e-waste) dismantling can mobilize mercury (Hg) from Hg-containing components and contaminated dust, while local diet can contribute methylmercury (MeHg), creating a mixed environmental exposure setting for human biomonitoring ...

Impact of Open Source software on the environmental protection [PDF]

open access: yesComputational Ecology and Software, 2015
Ongoing development of computer hardware contributes to the constant throwing old computers ie. direct increase of electric and electronic equipment waste. This type of waste is a major threat to human health and the environment.
