Electroosmosis in porous materials

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1986
Abstract Electroosmosis is the phenomenon of fluid flow induced by an applied electric field. This paper is concerned with electroosmosis in a porous material composed of closely-packed spheres immersed in a general electrolyte. A formula is obtained for the electroosmotic flow rate in the case when the double layer is much thinner than the particle ...

The effects of electroosmosis on the structure of isotachophoresis boundaries

ELECTROPHORESIS, 1990
AbstractThe influence of convection on the structure of an isotachophoretic boundary is investigated using an asymptotic method to simplify the conservation equations. To illustrate the methodology it is applied to a simple strong electrolyte system consisting of three ions and the relevant equations solved numerically.
