Further steps of hepatic stimulatory substance purification [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
The hepatic stimulatory substance (HSS) extracted from weanling rat livers was purified 381,000-fold using chromatographic techniques including nondissociating polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (nondenaturing PAGE).

Geographic and climatic differentiation of electrophoretic forms of esterase, glutamate dehydrogenase and peroxidase in Scots pine tissues

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2014
The enzymatic systems have been investigated in individual trees derived from 17 distant localities in Europe and Asia. Esterase and glutamate dehydrogenase polymorphism was determined in extracts from mixture of 50 macrogametophytes, iperoxidase ...

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Molecular Weight Distribution of Proteins Synthesized in Single, Identified Neurons of Aplysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Parietovisceral ganglia from Aplysia californica were incubated in medium containing leucine-3H. Single, identified nerve cell somas were isolated from the ganglia, and their proteins extracted and separated by electrophoresis on 5% SDS-polyacrylamide ...

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Metabolism of excised embryos of Lupinus luteus L. VI. An electrophoretic analysis of some dehydrogenases in cultured embryos as compared with the normal seedling axes

open access: yesActa Societatis Botanicorum Poloniae, 2015
The electrophoretic patterns (disc electrophoresis) of the studied dehydrogenases: glucose-6-phosphate - (A), malate - (B), glutamate - (C), alcohol - (D) and lactate dehydrogenase (E), in the axial organs of isolated Lupinus luteus embryos and seedlings

A fully integrated paperfluidic molecular diagnostic chip for the extraction, amplification, and detection of nucleic acids from clinical samples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Paper diagnostics have successfully been employed to detect the presence of antigens or small molecules in clinical samples through immunoassays; however, the detection of many disease targets relies on the much higher sensitivity and specificity ...

Cytomegalovirus infection is common in prostate cancer and antiviral therapies inhibit progression in disease models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

The non-aggregated aggrecan in the human intervertebral disc can arise by a non-proteolytic mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Cells & Materials, 2014
Analysis of both the aggregated and non-aggregated fractions of aggrecan isolated from adult human intervertebral disc using immunoblotting with antibodies specific for the different domains constituting the aggrecan core protein or atomic force ...
