Innervation and Neuronal Control of the Mammalian Sinoatrial Node: A Comprehensive Atlas

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2020
Cardiac function is under exquisite intrinsic cardiac neural control. Neuroablative techniques to modulate control of cardiac function are currently being studied in patients, albeit with variable and sometimes deleterious results.

ALS With and Without Upper Motor Neuron Signs: A Comparative Study Supporting the Gold Coast Criteria

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The Gold Coast criteria permit diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) even without upper motor neuron (UMN) signs. However, whether ALS patients with UMN signs (ALSwUMN) and those without (ALSwoUMN) share similar characteristics and prognoses remains unclear.

TAQUICARDIA POR REENTRADA DEL NODO AURÍCULO-VENTRICULAR / Atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia [PDF]

open access: yesCorSalud, 2013
Resumen La taquicardia por reentrada del nodo aurículo–ventricular representa una parte significativa de las taquiarritmias que los médicos asisten en los servicios de urgencias.

PEDOT‐Based Eutectogel Electrode Arrays for Enhanced High‐Resolution Electrogastrography: Fabrication, Stability, and Wearable Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a high‐density PEDOT eutectogel electrode array for enhanced body surface gastric mapping. Silver electrodes are blade‐coated onto flexible substrates, followed by electrogelation of PEDOT:PSS and the deposition of a PEDOT:LS eutectogel.

Pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of tachycardiomyopathy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Tachycardiomyopathies (TCMP) are an important cause of left ventricular (LV) dysfunction that should be recognised by physicians as they are potentially reversible and have a significant impact on morbidity and prognosis.

A simple and efficient adaptive time stepping technique for low‐order operator splitting schemes applied to cardiac electrophysiology

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, 2023
AbstractWe present a simple, yet efficient adaptive time stepping scheme for cardiac electrophysiology (EP) simulations based on standard operator splitting techniques. The general idea is to exploit the relation between the splitting error and the reaction's magnitude—found in a previous one‐dimensional analytical study by Spiteri and Ziaratgahi—to ...

Cardiac‐Derived ECM Microspheres for Enhanced hiPSC‐CMs Maturation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cardiac extracellular matrix microspheres derived from decellularized porcine heart provide a biomimetic 3D microenvironment for human induced pluripotent stem cell–derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC‐CMs). This platform supports short‐ and long‐term culture, enhances structural organization, and promotes electrophysiological and functional maturation of ...

MK-0448, a Specific Kv1.5 Inhibitor: Safety, Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamic Electrophysiology in Experimental Animal Models and in Humans. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: -We evaluated the viability of I(Kur) as a target for maintenance of sinus rhythm in patients with a history of atrial fibrillation through the testing of MK-0448, a novel I(Kur) inhibitor.

Pulmonary embolism as a complication of an electrophysiological study: a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: Electrophysiological studies have become an established practice in the evaluation and treatment of arrhythmias. Symptomatic pulmonary embolism as a result of deep vein thrombosis arising from multiple venous sheath femoral vein ...
