Hysteresis Phenomena in Transitional Zones Between Various Kinds of Periodic and Quiescent Behaviour in Electrophysiological Mathematical Models of Cardiac Cells

NATO ASI Series Series B: Physics, 1991
This study deals with a mathematical model of a system composed of coupled pacemakers (PM) and non-pacemaker (NPM) cardiac cells, when electrical coupling resistance and pacemaker cell size are allowed to vary. Broad outlines of classification were provided by direct numerical simulation for discrete values of the parameters.

The electrophysiological basis of epileptiform magnetic fields in neocortex: spontaneous ictal phenomena

Brain Research, 1991
In a previous report (Barth, D.S. and Di, S., Brain Research, 530 (1990) 35-39), electrical measurements of epileptiform cellular currents produced by physiologically evoked interictal penicillin spikes in rat somatosensory cortex were directly compared to the extracranial magnetic fields these currents generate.

The electrophysiological analysis of the phenomena of optimum and pessimum in the neuromuscular apparatus at an early age

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1964
An electrophysiological method was used to analyze specific features in effecting the reactions of the optimum and pessimum in young puppies. In puppies aged under 16–18 days the greatest values of the action potential in the muscle (gastrocnemius) was recorded by stimulating the nerve with a pulse frequency of 5–12/sec, which corresponds to the ...

Resonance phenomena in the human auditory cortex: individual resonance frequencies of the cerebral cortex determine electrophysiological responses

Experimental Brain Research, 2010
The brain can be considered a dynamical system which is able to oscillate at multiple frequencies. To study the brain's preferred oscillation frequencies, the resonance frequencies in the frequency response of the system can be assessed by stimulating the brain at various stimulation frequencies.

Electrophysiological phenomena recorded from spinal cord slice preparation in the adult rat

1994
The dorsal root potential (DRP-V) is believed to have the same origin as the slow positive potential of the segmental spinal cord potential. Furthermore it is also thought to be a reflection of primary afferent depolarization (PAD) which is an index of presynaptic inhibition1.
