An expert system to simulate fuzzy phenomena in cardiac electrophysiology
To simulate fuzzy phenomena in clinical cardiac electrophysiology an expert system has been combined with a classical mathematical model of the cardiac conduction system. Rules describing the fuzzy phenomenon that should be simulated should be stored in the knowledge base of the expert system.

Mixed-mode oscillations in pyramidal neurons under antiepileptic drug conditions. [PDF]
Subthreshold oscillations in combination with large-amplitude oscillations generate mixed-mode oscillations (MMOs), which mediate various spatial and temporal cognition and memory processes and behavioral motor tasks.

An incentive circuit for memory dynamics in the mushroom body of Drosophila melanogaster
Insects adapt their response to stimuli, such as odours, according to their pairing with positive or negative reinforcements, such as sugar or shock. Recent electrophysiological and imaging findings in Drosophila melanogaster allow detailed examination ...

Spinal Dorsal Horn Neuronal Alterations Following CFA-Induced Inflammatory Pain in Mice
Background: The spinal dorsal horn (SDH) plays a crucial role in nociceptive processing. However, the temporal dynamics of neuronal excitability across different laminae during inflammatory pain remain incompletely understood.

Schizotypy: A Multi-Country Study of Psychometrics, Socio-Cultural Influences, Cognitive Processes, and Electrophysiological Markers [PDF]
Schizotypy represents a latent personality organisation reflecting a putative liability for schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Schizotypic traits include anomalies in cognition (e.g., hallucinations), socio-emotional function (e.g., constricted affect ...

Synaptic transmission and its activity-dependent modulation, known as synaptic plasticity, are fundamental processes in nervous system function. Neurons may receive thousands of synaptic contacts, but synaptic regulation may occur only at individual or ...

Dynamic BOLD functional connectivity in humans and its electrophysiological correlates [PDF]
Neural oscillations subserve many human perceptual and cognitive operations. Accordingly, brain functional connectivity is not static in time, but fluctuates dynamically following the synchronization and desynchronization of neural populations.

Applicability of the Electro-Vectorcardiogram in Current Clinical Practice
The electrocardiogram (ECG) has been reinvigorated by the identification of electrical alterations that were not definitely clarified before. In this context, and mainly regarding the definition of arrhythmogenic substrates, the association of the ECG ...
