Numerical simulation of electrocardiograms for full cardiac cycles in healthy and pathological conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This work is dedicated to the simulation of full cycles of the electrical activity of the heart and the corresponding body surface potential. The model is based on a realistic torso and heart anatomy, including ventricles and atria.

LRRC8A Regulates Outer Hair Cell Volume and Electromotility and is Required for Hearing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies LRRC8A‐dependent volume‐regulated anion channels (VRACs) as essential for cochlear outer hair cells' electromotility and auditory signal amplification. LRRC8A deficiency disrupts cell volume control, impairs auditory sensitivity, and causes deafness, while targeted LRRC8A re‐expression restores auditory function.

A companion to the preclinical common data elements and case report forms for in vivo rodent neuroimaging: A report of the TASK3‐WG3 Neuroimaging Working Group of the ILAE/AES Joint Translational Task Force

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract The International League Against Epilepsy/American Epilepsy Society (ILAE/AES) Joint Translational Task Force established the TASK3 working groups to create common data elements (CDEs) for various aspects of preclinical epilepsy research studies, which could help improve the standardization of experimental designs.

Biological Applications of Organic Electrochemical Transistors: Electrochemical Biosensors and Electrophysiology Recording

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2019
Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) are recently developed high-efficient transducers not only for electrochemical biosensor but also for cell electrophysiological recording due to the separation of gate electrode from the transistor device.

Palmitoylation: A Fatty Regulator of Myocardial Electrophysiology

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2020
Regulation of cardiac physiology is well known to occur through the action of kinases that reversibly phosphorylate ion channels, calcium handling machinery, and signaling effectors.

Dual‐Working‐Pattern Nanosheet‐Based Hydrogel Sensors for Constructing Human‐Machine and Physiological‐Electric Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hydrogels hold great potential as candidates for next‐generation epidermal electronics; however, an unresolved issue remains: the differentiation and selection of sensing modes in hydrogel sensors. This study integrates series‐parallel conductive nanosheet configurations into an ultra‐soft hydrogel, resulting in enhanced signal intensity and ...

Bifidobacterium longum 1714 as a translational psychobiotic: modulation of stress, electrophysiology and neurocognition in healthy volunteers

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry, 2016
The emerging concept of psychobiotics—live microorganisms with a potential mental health benefit—represents a novel approach for the management of stress-related conditions. The majority of studies have focused on animal models.
