Assessment of the application for renewal of the authorisation of a feed additive consisting of sodium hydroxide for dogs, cats and ornamental fish (Brenntag Holding GmbH and Electroquímica de Hernani, S.A.). [PDF]
Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed (FEEDAP) was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the assessment of the application for renewal of authorisation of sodium hydroxide as a technological additive (acidity regulator) for dogs, cats and ornamental fish.

Novel Electrochemical Treatment of Spent Caustic from the Hydrocarbon Industry Using Ti/BDD
During the crude oil refining process, NaOH solutions are used to remove H2S, H2Saq, and sulfur compounds from different hydrocarbon streams. The residues obtained are called “spent caustics.” These residues can be mixed with those obtained in other ...

Gold-Indium Electrocatalysts for the Selective Oxidation of Glycerol Coupled with CO2 Reduction. [PDF]
A new gold–indium alloy electrocatalyst for glycerol oxidation has been synthesized. This material has its manufacturing cost reduced by 28% while reducing the onset potential by 210 mV. The catalyst has been applied in a flow cell electrolysis coupled with CO2 reduction achieving faradaic efficiencies over 90% working at a current density of 200 mA cm−

Role of Metal Contacts on Halide Perovskite Memristors
Halide perovskites are electronic/ionic conductors used as resistive memories. The role of the metal contacts is unveiled by using metals with different reactivities. It is shown that metals need to be oxidized electrochemically in situ and this oxidized species can follow the applied electrical field to generate the conductive filaments.

Molecular One‐ and Two‐Qubit Systems with Very Long Coherence Times
Very long coherence times of up to 140 µs are reported in perchlorotriphenylmethyl mono‐ and diradicals, strongly exceeding previous values. Furthermore, two‐spin coherent manipulations are reported in the biradical systems, as a basic quantum gate operation.

Abstract An appropriate morphological and structure matrix configuration where lithium ions could insert and de‐insert is essential for lithium‐ion batteries (LiB). Tungsten oxides (WO3) are especially attractive materials for this aim. In this research, the effects of the morphology and composition of WO3 nanostructures on the charge/discharge ...

Anti‐corrosive additives for alkaline electrolyte in Al‐air batteries: NH4VO3 and polyoxometalates
NH4VO3 in alkaline electrolytes form a protective polymeric layer of tetrahedric V+5O4 species over Al5052, Al6062, and Al7475 alloys that inhibits corrosion. Combination with carboxymethyl cellulose forms a more stable layer that makes it promising for application in aluminum‐air batteries.

The requirements of beneficial material restructuring into a high‐performance oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalyst are investigated. The nature of the anions in the electrolyte directly affects the restructuring kinetics. Only carbonate can activate the catalytic current, forming a final material with adequate local structure, high Co ...
