Electrorefining cell evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Operational characteristics of the LANL electrorefining cell, a modified LANL electrorefining cell, and an advanced electrorefining cell (known as the CRAC cell) were determined. Average process yields achieved were: 75% for the LANL cell, 82% for the modified LANL cell, and 86% for the CRAC cell. All product metal from the LANL and modified LANL cells

Production of Metallic Titanium by Electrowinning in Molten Salts of Titanium Oxycarbide Anode

open access: yesMaterials Proceedings, 2021
The electrochemical behavior of Ti3+ in LiCl-LiF-TiF3 salt was investigated by cyclic and square wave voltammetries at 853 K. Both methods confirm the presence of a single reduction wave of Ti3+ ions to metal, at a potential of −2.3 V vs. Cl2/Cl−.

Electrochemical Properties of NdCl3 and CeCl3 in Molten LiCl-KCl Eutectic Salt

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
NdCl3 and CeCl3 are characterized by the very close proximity of their standard reduction potentials. Thus, they represent the most challenging salt mixtures with respect to decoupling electrochemical responses and calculating concentrations.

Electrorefining of copper and anode passivation

open access: yesJournal of MMIJ, 2020
In the process of electrorefining of copper, application of higher current density increases the tendency of anode passivation. The passivation disrupts the sound operation of the electrorefining process, reducing the current efficiency and the quality ...

Electrorefining of High Carbon Ferromanganese in Molten Salts to Produce Pure Ferromanganese

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2017
High carbon ferromanganese is used as a starting material to prepare pure ferromanganese by electrorefining in molten salts. High carbon ferromanganese was applied as the anode, molybdenum was the cathode and Ag/AgCl was the reference electrode.
