Desorption electrospray ionization of aerosol particles
Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 2007Abstract We have applied desorption electrospray ionization to aerosol particles. Ions were formed from aerosols by merging suspended dry particles with an electrospray of solvent in a modified ion trap mass spectrometer. Dry aerosol particles were generated using a fluidized bed powder disperser and directed toward the inlet of the ...

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry of ginsenosides
Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2002AbstractGinsenosides Rb1, Rb2, Rc, Rd, Re, Rf, Rg1, Rg2 and F11 were studied systematically by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry in positive‐ and negative‐ion modes with a mobile‐phase additive, ammonium acetate. In general, ion sensitivities for the ginsenosides were greater in the negative‐ion mode, but more structural information on the ...

The Charging of Micellar Nanoparticles in Electrospray Ionization
ChemPhysChem, 2013AbstractCharging of nanoparticles through electrospray has scarcely been explored. Spherical nanometer‐sized amphiphilic block copolymer nanoparticles with diameters ranging from ∼65 to ∼150 nm were electrosprayed and analysed by charge detection spectrometry. Herein, we explore the charging of these micellar nano‐objects by conducting a thorough study

Microfabrication of polydimethylsiloxane electrospray ionization emitters
Journal of Chromatography A, 2001Microfabricated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) emitters for electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) were implemented as tips along the edge of the PDMS device by three methods which utilize soft lithography processes. These microfabrication methods for producing PDMS emitters as an integral part of a microfluidic device will facilitate ...

Internal energy distribution in electrospray ionization
Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2004AbstractInternal energies and energy distributions were studied using the ‘survival yield’ method developed previously. In addition to conventional benzylpyridinium salts, protonated esters (fragmenting by rearrangement) and protonated leucine enkephalin were also used, extending the validity of the technique.

An Electrospray Ionization Source for Integration with Microfluidics
Analytical Chemistry, 2002We have demonstrated a new electrospray ionization (ESI) device incorporating a tip made from a shaped thin film, bonded to a microfluidic channel, and interfaced to a time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOFMS). A triangular-shaped thin polymer tip was formed by lithography and etching.

Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry of Oligonucleotides
Current Protocols in Nucleic Acid Chemistry, 2008AbstractBecause of the high molecular weights and thermal lability of biomolecules such as nucleic acids and protein, they can be difficult to analyze by mass spectrometry. Such analyses require a “soft” ionization method that is capable of generating intact molecular ions.

Electrospray ionization source with a rear extractor
Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2018AbstractA new electrospray source design is introduced by having an extractor electrode placed at 1 to 2 mm behind the emitter tip. The extractor was integrated into the sprayer body as a single device. An insulating tube was used to isolate the emitter from the extractor and to deliver the sheath gas for the electrospray.

Integration of electropreconcentration and electrospray ionization in a microchip
Journal of Chromatography A, 2018A microfluidic glass chip for performing sensitive mass spectrometry (MS) is developed by integrating nanochannel-based electropreconcentration with electrospray ionization (ESI). Cation analytes in acidic buffer conditions (∼pH 3) were preconcentrated at a micro-nano-microchannel junction where a positively charged polymer, polyE-323, is coated to ...

Oxidation of peptides during electrospray ionization
Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 1993Abstract [M+H+16] + ions were observed in the electrospray ionization mass spectra of several synthetic and maturally occurring peptides. Initial results have shown that the appearance of the modification is dependent on the field strength at the electrospray needle and the ...
