Surface tension effects on immersed electrosprays [PDF]
Electrosprays are a powerful technique to generate charged micro/nanodroplets. In the last century, the technique received extensive study and successful applications, including a Nobel price in Chemistry. However, nowadays its use in microfluidic devices is still limited mainly due to a lack of knowledge of the phenomenon when the dispersing fluid is ...

Molecular basis for solvent dependent morphologies observed on electrosprayed surfaces [PDF]
We study the causes of the observed tunable hydrophobicity of poly(styrene-co-perfluoroalkyl ethylacrylate) electrosprayed in THF, DMF, and THF : DMF (1 : 1) solvents. Under the assumption that equilibrium morphologies in the solvent significantly affect

Patterned Electrospray Fiber Structures [PDF]
Electrospun fibers have useful filtration properties for chemical protective clothing and filter masks. Techniques for the patterned deposition of these fibers have been developed based on varying the conductivity of the target substrate. We are investigating multilayer arrangements of patterned fibers deposited in single layers, and onto air ...

3D Electrospinning of Macroscopic PLLA Structures
This study uses a modified 3D printer to fabricate macroscopic electrospun 3D PLLA nanofibrous structures. It discusses the effects of process, solution, and ambient parameters. The optimum set of variables is zrealized with a uniform nanofibrous distribution in the bottom, middle, and top structural layers.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Sympathetic Crystallization of Molecular Ions [PDF]
It is shown that the translational degrees of freedom of a large variety of molecules, from light diatomic to heavy organic ones, can be cooled sympathetically and brought to rest (crystallized) in a linear Paul trap. The method relies on endowing the molecules with an appropriate positive charge, storage in a linear radiofrequency trap, and ...

Beyond slurry-cast supercapacitor electrodes: PAN/MWNT heteromat-mediated ultrahigh capacitance electrode sheets [PDF]
Supercapacitors (SCs) have garnered considerable attention as an appealing power source for forthcoming smart energy era. An ultimate challenge facing the SCs is the acquisition of higher energy density without impairing their other electrochemical ...

Mass spectrometry of dendrimers
Abstract Mass spectrometry (MS) has become an essential technique to characterize dendrimers as it proved efficient at tackling analytical challenges raised by their peculiar onion‐like structure. Owing to their chemical diversity, this review covers benefits of MS methods as a function of dendrimer classes, discussing advantages and limitations of ...

Levitated Spinning Graphene [PDF]
A method is described for levitating micron-sized few layer graphene flakes in a quadrupole ion trap. Starting from a liquid suspension containing graphene, charged flakes are injected into the trap using the electrospray ionization technique and are probed optically.
