In conclusion, charged membrane together with their adjacent electrolyte solution form a thermodynamic and physico-chemical entity. Their surfaces represent an exceptionally complicated interfacial system owing to intrinsic membrane complexity, as well as to the polarity and often large thickness of the interfacial region.

Fundamentals of Electrostatic and Quasi-electrostatic Fields
2020This chapter explains the fundamental characteristics of the electrostatic and quasi-electrostatic fields that the book covers. It deals with basic equations, boundary conditions, and the effects of conduction, among others. The “uniqueness theorem” in electric fields is also explained.

DIFFICULTIES encountered by Stoner1,2 and Guggenheim3–5 in their attempts to apply thermodynamics to systems which contain magnetizable matter have made these writers aware of important defects in the usual development of the notion of energy in the theory of magnetism and in the analogous theory of electrostatics. The difficulties occur at the outset,

This time, our display case holds three uncommon electrostatic demonstrations: two types of electrostatic motor and a Kelvin water-dropper generator. These all run automatically and their action attracts the attention of passersby. All of this display is constructed from commonly available materials without any special shop facilities.

Abstract In spite of the similarity in the differential equations and aether relations, it is not true that every problem (with q = 0) in electrostatics translates into one in magnetostatics, and vice versa; for the jump conditions are different. But the mathematical techniques for solving problems in electrostatics and magnetostatics
