The topology of the electroweak interaction

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 2005
In this paper we show that the Higgs boson of the (minimal) standard model has at most three gauge inequivalent ground states. One of these states is related to ordinary electromagnetism and the other two to electromagnetism within magnetically charged vacua.

Chiral electroweak gauge interactions

Physical Review D, 1990
The hypercharge U(1){sub {ital Y}} of the standard electroweak model is split into chiral hypercharges U(1){sub {ital L}}{times}U(1){sub {ital R}}. Under the new gauge symmetry SU(2){sub {ital L}}{times}U(1){sub {ital L}}{times}U(1){sub {ital R}}, quarks and leptons are left-handed doublets transforming only under SU(2){sub {ital L}}{times}U(1){sub ...
