Chiral electroweak gauge interactions
Physical Review D, 1990The hypercharge U(1){sub {ital Y}} of the standard electroweak model is split into chiral hypercharges U(1){sub {ital L}}{times}U(1){sub {ital R}}. Under the new gauge symmetry SU(2){sub {ital L}}{times}U(1){sub {ital L}}{times}U(1){sub {ital R}}, quarks and leptons are left-handed doublets transforming only under SU(2){sub {ital L}}{times}U(1){sub ...

This book describes the theory of electroweak interactions, starting from a level understandable to students with only a first degree in physics. This theory, the Glashow–Salam–Weinberg (GSW) model, unifies the weak and electromagnetic forces of nature and gives a detailed description of the interactions between quarks and leptons, the basic building ...

Neutrino helicity flips via electroweak interactions
Physical Review D, 1989Electroweak mechanisms via which neutrinos may flip helicity are examined in detail. Exact and approximate expressions for a variety of flip processes relevant in astrophysics and cosmology, mediated by /ital W/, /ital Z/, and /gamma/ exchange, including their interference, are derived for both Dirac and Majorana neutrinos (with emphasis on the former).

Electroweak interactions at LEP
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2001The electroweak interactions are based on an extension of the electromagnetic (Maxwell) interactions, realized in a rather odd way so that the symmetries of the theory are not immediately obvious. This “broken” theory has been the subject of intense investigation at LEP, and has passed all tests with flying colors.
