Reaction of indolizines with elemental sulfur

open access: yesChemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, 1984
The fusion of 3,8-diphenyl-, 1,2-diphenyl-, and 6-methyl-2,7-diphenyl-indolizines with sulfur results in the formation of bis(indolizin-3-yl) disulfides with the respective substituents. Bis(2,8-diphenylindolizin-3-yl) disulfide is reduced to the original indolizine, and its treatment with nitric acid gives 2,8-diphenyl-1, 3-dinitroindolizine.

Oxygen and sulfur isotope fractionation during anaerobic bacterial disproportionation of elemental sulfur [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Bacterial disproportionation of elemental sulfur is an important process in the sulfur cycle of natural sediments and leads to the formation of hydrogen sulfide and sulfate. The oxygen atoms in sulfate during this anaerobic process are completely derived

Sulfur microenvironments as hotspots for biogenic pyrite formation

open access: yesScientific Reports
Pyrite (FeS2) is the end-product of bacterial sulfur cycling in reduced sedimentary environments. Sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) are mostly considered for biogenic pyrite formation due to their significant contribution to sulfide production at ambient ...

Comparison Analysis of Coal Biodesulfurization and Coal’s Pyrite Bioleaching with Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2013
Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans (A. ferrooxidans) was applied in coal biodesulfurization and coal’s pyrite bioleaching. The result showed that A. ferrooxidans had significantly promoted the biodesulfurization of coal and bioleaching of coal’s pyrite ...

Multielement stoichiometry of cotton (Gossypium genus) and its improvement potential through the use of genetic variation

open access: yesCrop and Environment
According to the geochemical niche hypothesis, different species have unique elemental compositions, but the elemental stoichiometry of cotton (Gossypium genus) has not been systematically studied.

Elemental sulfur combinations and regional waste gypsum products as alternative sulfur fertilizer sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Non-Peer ReviewedThe potential of elemental sulfur and gypsum as viable sulfur alternatives to ammonium sulfate were evaluated. Continued concerns regarding poor product performance by elemental sulfur, and the lack of an economically viable gypsum ...

Mechanisms of the Gewald synthesis of 2-aminothiophenes from elemental sulfur [PDF]

open access: yes
The Gewald reaction is a well-established one-pot method to access 2-aminothiophenes from carbonyl compounds, activated acetonitriles, and elemental sulfur.

Geochemical transformations of sulfur and their role in the formation of different types and subtypes of saline lakes in Southeastern Transbaikalia

open access: yesApplied Water Science
This study focused on the chemistry and isotopes of sulfur in lakes. The bottom sediments and water columns of lakes were found to contain reduced forms of sulfur, including hydrogen sulfide ions, elemental sulfur, and thiosulfate ions, along with ...

Elemental sulfur dynamics in acid sulfate soil landscapes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The precipitation and dissolution of iron and sulfur minerals has a primary influence on water quality of acid sulfate affected landscapes (Fanning et al. 2002; Nordstrom 2000).
