Anionic copolymerization of elemental sulfur
Pure and Applied Chemistry, 1981The radical homoand copolymerization of elemental sulfur has been reviewed. Reasons of inability of elemental sulfur to copolymerize by radical mechanism with vinyl comonomers are given. Anionic copolymerization of elemental sulfur with thiiranes e.g. propylene sulfide and isobutylene sulfide has been described.

Efficacy of Elemental Sulfur Fertilizers
Crops & Soils, 2022AbstractElemental sulfur (S) is produced in large quantities in both the U.S. and Canada as a by‐product of fossil fuel production. However, this form of S must be oxidized to sulfate (SO42–) by soil microorganisms before crops can utilize it and therefore may not meet crop S requirements in the year of application.

The purification of elemental sulfur
Journal of Materials Research, 1992Sulfur has been purified by a dynamic pyrolysis procedure that takes into account the unique viscosity-temperature relationship of the liquid. An apparatus is described that incorporates gas-bubbling and rocking to overcome diffusion-limited kinetics. For the first time, a mechanism is proposed for the pyrolytic purification of sulfur based upon Carsul

Elemental Sulfur and its Reactions
1977Although sulfur has been utilized since antiquity and later found widespread use in the preparation of gun powder, sulfuric acid, other sulfur-containing compounds and rubber (vulcanization), only in recent years have we come to understand some of its properties and the special character of sulfur bonds.
