The Universe out of an Elementary Particle? [PDF]

open access: yesClass.Quant.Grav.16:3315-3320,1999, 1999
We consider a model of an elementary particle as a 2 + 1 dimensional brane evolving in a 3 + 1 dimensional space. Introducing gauge fields that live in the brane as well as normal surface tension can lead to a stable "elementary particle" configuration.

Dynamical Model of Elementary Particles Based on an Analogy with Superconductivity. II [PDF]

open access: bronze, 1961
It is suggested that the nucleon mass arises largely as a self-energy of some primary fermion field through the same mechanism as the appearance of energy gap in the theory of superconductivity.

Supersymmetry in Elementary Particle Physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
These lectures, presented at the 2006 TASI summer school, give a general introduction to supersymmetry, emphasizing its application to models of elementary particle physics at the 100 GeV energy scale. I discuss the following topics: the construction of supersymmetric Lagrangians with scalars, fermions, and gauge bosons, the structure and mass spectrum

The Particle of Haag’s Local Quantum Physics: A Critical Assessment [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy
Rudolf Haag’s Local Quantum Physics (LQP) is an alternative framework to conventional relativistic quantum field theory for combining special relativity and quantum theory based on first principles, making it of great interest for the purposes of ...

Quantum Gate Pattern Recognition and Circuit Optimization for Scientific Applications [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2021
There is no unique way to encode a quantum algorithm into a quantum circuit. With limited qubit counts, connectivities, and coherence times, circuit optimization is essential to make the best use of quantum devices produced over a next decade.

Anomaly detection using Unsupervised Machine Learning for Grid computing site operation [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2020
A Grid computing site is composed of various services including Grid middleware, such as Computing Element and Storage Element. Text logs produced by the services provide useful information for understanding the status of the services.

Event Classification with Multi-step Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2021
The usefulness and value of Multi-step Machine Learning (ML), where a task is organized into connected sub-tasks with known intermediate inference goals, as opposed to a single large model learned end-to-end without intermediate sub-tasks, is presented ...

Quantum annealing algorithms for track pattern recognition [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2020
The High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) starts from 2027 to extend the physics discovery potential at the energy frontier. The HL-LHC produces experimental data with a much higher luminosity, requiring a large amount of computing resources ...
