Elementary Atom Interaction with Matter [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
The calculations of the elementary atom (the Coulomb bound state of elementary particles) interaction with the atom of matter, which are performed in the Born approximation, are reviewed. We first discuss the nonrelativistic approach and then its relativistic generalization.

AAPM Task Group No. 249.B—Essentials and guidelines for clinical medical physics residency training program

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract The establishment of guidelines and curriculum standards for medical physics residency training is a critical component of setting expectations and competencies for the profession. Since the last publication of these standards, residency training has become integrated into the eligibility criteria for most medical physics certification bodies.

On the origin of Poincaré gauge gravity

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2017
We argue that the origin of Poincaré gauge gravity (PGG) may be related to spontaneous violation of underlying spacetime symmetries involved and appearance of gauge fields as vector Goldstone bosons.

UV sensitivity of the axion mass from instantons in partially broken gauge groups

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We examine the contribution of small instantons to the axion mass in various UV completions of QCD. We show that the reason behind the potential dominance of such contributions is the non-trivial embedding of QCD into the UV theory.

Massless Elementary Particles in a Quantum Theory Over a Galois Field [PDF]

open access: yesTheor. Math. Phys. Vol. 138 (2004) 208-225, 2002
We consider massless elementary particles in a quantum theory based on a Galois field (GFQT). We previously showed that the theory has a new symmetry between particles and antiparticles, which has no analogue in the standard approach. We now prove that the symmetry is compatible with all operators describing massless particles.

Energy dependence of the GAFCHROMIC LD‐V1 in the diagnostic radiographic modalities

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract The GAFCHROMIC LD‐V1 radiochromic film is widely used in dosimetry because it can provide high‐resolution two‐dimensional dose distributions without processing. This study aimed to evaluate the response characteristics at different effective energies, from the low‐energy range of mammography to the high‐energy range of computed tomography. Net

The Elementary Particle Cube [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Postulating that spacetime is discrete, we assume that physical space is described by a 3-dimensional cubic lattice. The corresponding symmetry group of rotations has order 24 and motivates the introduction of a cubic shaped graph with 27 vertices and 351 edges.

ARE BLACK HOLES ELEMENTARY PARTICLES? [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2009
Quantum black holes are the smallest and heaviest conceivable elementary particles. They have a microscopic size but a macroscopic mass. Several fundamental types have been constructed with some remarkable properties. Quantum black holes in the neighborhood of the Galaxy could resolve the paradox of ultra-high energy cosmic rays detected in Earth's ...

Dosimetric evaluation and clinical application of collimated apertures with proton beam line scanning in stereotactic radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) is a highly effective treatment with precision for small, localized lesions. Proton therapy, characterized by the Bragg peak, offers superior dose conformity compared to photon‐based approaches. However, challenges remain in minimizing lateral penumbra and optimizing dose delivery, particularly for small

Elementary particle physics [PDF]

open access: yes
Elementary particle physics is discussed. Status of the Standard Model of electroweak and strong interactions; phenomena beyond the Standard Model; new accelerator projects; and possible contributions from non-accelerator experiments are ...
