Black holes as elementary particles [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1992
It is argued that the qualitative features of black holes, regarded as quantum mechanical objects, depend both on the parameters of the hole and on the microscopic theory in which it is embedded. A thermal description is inadequate for extremal holes.

Elementary spacetime cycles [PDF]

open access: yesEurophys. Lett., 102 (2013) 31002, 2013
Every system in physics is described in terms of interacting elementary particles characterized by modulated spacetime recurrences. These intrinsic periodicities, implicit in undulatory mechanics, imply that every free particle is a reference clock linking time to the particle's mass, and every system is formalizable by means of modulated elementary ...

Quantum phase transition for the BEC-BCS crossover in condensed matter physics and CPT violation in elementary particle physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We discuss the quantum phase transition that separates a vacuum state with fully gapped fermion spectrum from a vacuum state with topologically protected Fermi points (gap nodes).

Making tau amyloid models in vitro: a crucial and underestimated challenge

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review highlights the challenges of producing in vitro amyloid assemblies of the tau protein. We review how accurately the existing protocols mimic tau deposits found in the brain of patients affected with tauopathies. We discuss the important properties that should be considered when forming amyloids and the benchmarks that should be used to ...

On the dynamical origin of the η ′ potential and the axion mass

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We investigate the dynamics responsible for generating the potential of the η ′ , the (would-be) Goldstone boson associated with the anomalous axial U(1) symmetry of QCD.

Elementary particles as elementary particles

open access: yesAnnals of Physics, 1965
Abstract The Z = 0 rule is investigated within a general field theoretic formulation. It is shown that the equivalence of a system with an elementary particle of vanishing wave function renormalization to a direct interaction theory is intimately related to the divergence of the bare mass and the consequent degeneration of the equations of motion ...

The power of microRNA regulation—insights into immunity and metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
MicroRNAs are emerging as crucial regulators at the intersection of metabolism and immunity. This review examines how miRNAs coordinate glucose and lipid metabolism while simultaneously modulating T‐cell development and immune responses. Moreover, it highlights how cutting‐edge artificial intelligence applications can identify miRNA biomarkers ...

Snell's Law from an Elementary Particle Viewpoint

open access: yes, 2005
Snell's law of light deflection between media with different indices of refraction is usually discussed in terms of the Maxwell electromagnetic wave theory. Snell's law may also be derived from a photon beam theory of light rays.

Una interpretación física de la constante de Planck [PDF]

open access: yesQu\'imica Central 3 (2013), No 2, 3-10, 2013
According to the commonly accepted interpretation of Quantum Mechanics, it is only possible to talk about the existence of elementary particles when they are detected by an experiment or by a classical measurement device. This has led to distortions with regard to the objective existence of reality, since it would be necessary an observer to ...
