Structure of Hyperbolic Unitary Groups I: Elementary Subgroups
Algebra Colloquium, 2000This paper is the first one in a series of papers concerning the structure of hyperbolic unitary groups over form rings and their subgroups. The authors recall the foundations of the theory and study the elementary subgroup of the hyperbolic unitary group over a form ring.

Normality for elementary subgroup functors
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1995AbstractWe define a notion of group functor G on categories of graded modules, which unifies previous concepts of a group functor G possessing a notion of elementary subfunctor E. We show under a general condition which is easily checked in practice that the elementary subgroup E(M) of G(M) is normal for all quasi-weak Noetherian objects M in the ...

Subgroups normalized by the elementary Levi subgroup
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2006Subgroups of the unipotent radical of a maximal parabolic subgroup of a Chevalley group over a field K, which are normalized by the commutator subgroup of the Levi subgroup, are described. It is shown that in the typical case, such subgroups are in one-to-one correspondence with the closed subsets of {1, 2, ..., n} for a natural n.

Varieties and Elementary Abelian Subgroups
2003The aim of this chapter is to develop and prove a generalized version of Quillen’s Dimension Theorem [122, 125]. Our main theorem says that every kG-module is a direct summand of a module that has a filtration in which the factors are induced from elementary abelian subgroups. Quillen’s theorem is one of the several consequences that we explore.

Normality of the Elementary Subgroup in Sp(2, A)
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 2017Let A be an associative ring with identity and involution, and let e1, . . . , en be a full system of Hermitian idempotents in A such that every ei generates A as a two-sided ideal. It is proved that the elementary subgroup is normal in Sp(2, A) if n ≥ 3 and A satisfies an analog of the local stable rank condition. Bibliography: 16 titles.

Normality in Elementary Subgroups of Chevalley Groups Over Rings
Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1976In [6] we have constructed certain normal subgroups G7 of the elementary subgroup GR of the Chevalley group G(L, R) over R corresponding to a finite dimensional simple Lie algebra L over the complex field, where R is a commutative ring with identity.
