The New Hilbert's Hotel Argument Defended

open access: yesAnalytic Philosophy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Joe Schmid and Troy Dana have recently advanced several criticisms of the New Hilbert's Hotel Argument formulated by us. In this paper, we respond by undercutting their proposed defeaters. First, we argue that they fail to refute the claim that Hilbert's Hotel entails a logical contradiction in the concrete world.

Elektroenzymatische CO2‐Fixierung

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 28, 6 July 2026.

Thinking of Melastomataceae: Revisiting Humboldt and Bonpland's Monographie des Melastomacées (1806–1823) from a historical perspective

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract During their voyage to the Americas (1799–1804), Alexander von Humboldt and Aimé Bonpland described and collected American flora, fauna, minerals and other objects. After returning to Europe, they published several works, including Monographie des Melastomacées, initiated by Bonpland to classify this complex botanical family.

Heat Acclimation with Blood Flow Restriction Improves Cognitive‐Motor Dual‐Task Ability and Neuromuscular Fatigue

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 36, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examined whether heat acclimation (HA), and HA with blood flow restriction (BFR) could attenuate cognition and neuromuscular function impairments in cognitive‐motor dual‐task (CMDT) during exercise‐heat stress. Twenty trained adults were randomly assigned to one of two HA protocols over six sessions (~8 days). Each session consisted

Fallschirmspringen, Paragliding und Wingsuit‐Fliegen: Im freien Fall

open access: yesPhysik in unserer Zeit, Volume 57, Issue 2, Page 74-78, March 2026.

Depth Image Super‐Resolution Reconstruction Based on Fractal Encoding

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a depth‐image super‐resolution reconstruction algorithm based on fractal encoding, effectively reducing information loss by leveraging the resolution invariance of fractal self‐similarity transformations. ABSTRACT In response to challenges such as edge blurring and pseudo‐artefacts in the super‐resolution reconstruction of depth ...

A New Incremental Cycling Cognitive‐Motor Dual‐Task Test to Assess Simultaneous Sustained Attention and Neuromuscular Fatigue in Trained Athletes

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 35, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Cognitive performance during cognitive‐motor dual‐task (CMDT) varies with exercise intensity. According to the inverted‐U theory, low‐to‐moderate intensity enhances cognition, but this remains unexplored in trained individuals who may better sustain cognitive performance at high intensities due to improved prefrontal cortex (PFC) homeostasis ...

The tempered finite element method

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics
In this paper, we propose a new approach -- the Tempered Finite Element Method (TFEM) -- that extends the Finite Element Method (FEM) to classes of meshes that include zero-measure or nearly degenerate elements for which standard FEM approaches do not allow convergence.

Verbesserter Stofftransport und Ladungstransfer in COF‐basierten Photokatalysatoren mit dreidimensional geordneten Makroporen für die Benzylaminoxidation und Wasserstoffentwicklung

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 34, August 18, 2025.

Adaptive finite element methods

open access: yesActa Numerica
This is a survey of the theory of adaptive finite element methods (AFEMs), which are fundamental to modern computational science and engineering but whose mathematical assessment is a formidable challenge. We present a self-contained and up-to-date discussion of AFEMs for linear second-order elliptic PDEs and dimension d > 1, with emphasis on ...
