Multiple Herbicide Resistance Evolution: The Case of Eleusine indica in Brazil

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2021
The occurrence of multiple herbicide resistant weeds has increased considerably in glyphosate-resistant soybean fields in Brazil; however, the mechanisms governing this resistance have not been studied. In its study, the target-site and nontarget-site mechanisms were characterized in an Eleusine indica population (R-15) with multiple resistance to the ...

Characterisation of glufosinate resistance mechanisms in Eleusine indica

open access: yesPest Management Science, 2017
AbstractBACKGROUNDAn Eleusine indica population has evolved resistance to glufosinate, a major post‐emergence herbicide of global agriculture. This population was analysed for target‐site (glutamine synthetase) and non‐target‐site (glufosinate uptake, translocation and metabolism) resistance mechanisms.RESULTSGlutamine synthetase (GS) activity ...

A national crop wild relative checklist for Zimbabwe reveals edible crop wild relative diversity of regional and global importance

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Crop wild relatives (CWR) in Zimbabwe are reservoirs of beneficial agronomic traits, yet they remain under‐documented and poorly conserved. This study developed Zimbabwe's first national CWR checklist based on a conceptual framework combining floristic, ecological and ethnobotanical data, revealing over 2700 taxa, with nearly 1000 edible species ...
