Monocyte LOXHD1 and RHOB Expression Predictive of Progressive Systemic Sclerosis–Associated Interstitial Lung Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective A leading cause of death among patients with scleroderma (SSc), interstitial lung disease (ILD) remains challenging to prognosticate. The discovery of biomarkers that accurately determine which patients would benefit from close monitoring and aggressive therapy would be an essential clinical tool.

Differential adaptation strategies by agro-ecological zones in African livestock management [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines how farmers have adapted their livestock operation to the current climate in each agro-ecological zone in Africa. The authors examine how climate has affected the farmer's choice to raise livestock or not and the choice of animal ...

Spatial variability of precipitation regimes over Turkey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Turkish annual precipitation regimes are analysed to provide large-scale perspective and redefine precipitation regions. Monthly total precipitation data are employed for 107 stations (1963–2002).

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2025.
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...

Phenological response of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) to climate change in the Western Carpathian climatic-geographical zones

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionThe paper analyzes the results of 26 years (1996–2021) of phenological observations of the vegetative organs of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) in the Western Carpathians. It evaluates the influence of the heterogeneity of this territory,

SUBHORIZONTAL GEODYNAMIC ACTIVE ZONES AT THE PLATFORMS - METHODS OF IDENTIFICATION AND EVALUATION

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Геология и разведка, 2016
Authors developed a geoinformation(GIS) method considering the degree of disagreement between the key horizons of the different ages for the detection and evaluation of the subhorizontal geodynamic active zones at the platforms.

Cellular-Automata model for dense-snow avalanches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper introduces a three-dimensional model for simulating dense-snow avalanches, based on the numerical method of cellular automata. This method allows one to study the complex behavior of the avalanche by dividing it into small elements, whose ...

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.
