Univalent Antigen as Elicitor of Anaphylactic Reactions

The Journal of Immunology, 1970
Abstract The capability of monovalent antigens with appropriate molecular characteristics to elicit dermal anaphylactic reactions has been reaffirmed. This report deals mainly with the demonstration in vitro, through the use of sucrose density gradients, that the monovalent antigen employed remains functionally monovalent in its reaction

Mansonones, Elicitors and Virulence

1993
Mansonones may constitute an effective systemic defense system of elms against Ophiostoma ulmi, the causal agent of Dutch elm disease. They are produced in response to fungal invasion, cause at 0.1 mM cellular ion leakage and reduce the rate of respiration of the pathogen.

Oligosaccharide Elicitors: Structures and Recognition

1993
Oligosaccharide elicitors capable of inducing one or more plant defense responses have been prepared from plant (homogalacturonan) and fungal (s-glucan, chitin, chitosan) cell wall polysaccharides. An overview of the structures and activities of these elicitors is presented.

Elicitors in in vitro Cultures

2023
Plants are a valuable source of a wide variety of secondary metabolites used as pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, flavors, fragrances, colors, biopesticides and food additives. For various reasons such as ecological, political or geographical, the supply of plant raw materials, which are the source of some of these valuable compounds, is ...

Isolation and Characterization of Elicitors

1992
The discovery of elicitors in the mid-1970s (Anderson-Prouty and Albersheim 1975; Keen and Brugger 1977) has been the subject of considerable attention as a promising and versatile approach to explain the biochemical processes underlying the resistance response of plants upon microbial attack.

Elicitor-induced plant defence pathways

Trends in Plant Science, 1996
During the course of their coevolution, plants and pathogens have evolved an intricate relationship, resulting from a continuous exchange of molecular information. Pathogens have developed an array of offensive strategies to parasitize plants and, in turn, plants have deployed a wide range of defence mechanisms.

MAP kinase cascades in elicitor signal transduction

Journal of Plant Research, 2002
Protein kinases play important roles in elicitor signal transduction. In this article, I describe the current view of the role of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascades in elicitor signal transduction of plant cells based on our own research and recent developments in this field.
