An In Situ Curing, Shear‐Responsive Biomaterial Designed for Durable Embolization of Microvasculature

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
NeoCast is a next‐generation, solvent‐free, non‐adhesive liquid embolic designed for indications where deep occlusion is desired (e.g., tumors and chronic subdural hematoma). This novel agent offers ideal embolic properties: injectability, controllability, excellent visibility, and biocompatibility.

Reprogrammable Mechanical Metamaterials via Passive and Active Magnetic Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The combination of flexible matrices with embedded hard‐magnetic nodes enables metastructures with reprogrammable mechanical properties, even in the absence of external magnetic fields. The evolving interaction between nodes during structural deformation allows mechanical tunability under quasi‐static and dynamic loading, and bistable transitions. This

Rational Design of Metal–Organic Frameworks for Pancreatic Cancer Therapy: from Machine Learning Screening to In Vivo Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the MOF landscape to select a single, optimal candidate for successfully delivering cancer drugs (gemcitabine, paclitaxel, SN‐38) into tough pancreatic tumors. Machine learning and simulations guide this search, demonstrating colloidal stability, excellent biocompatibility, cellular uptake, and sustained release.

A pilot randomized controlled trial of WeiNaoKang (SaiLuoTong) in treating vascular dementia

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, Volume 5, Issue 4, Page 246-256, December 2022., 2022
A 16‐week randomized double‐blind, placebo‐controlled trial for vascular dementia was carried out with WeiNaoKang (or SaiLuoTong). There were significant differences in improvement in cognitive function and activities of daily living, favouring the treatment group.

Hydrogel‐Impregnated Robust Interlocking Nano Connector (HiRINC) for Noninvasive Anti‐Migration of Esophageal Stent

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The development of hydrogel‐impregnated robust interlocking nano connector (HiRINC) aims to address stent migration by improving tissue adhesion and reducing mechanical mismatch in self‐expandable metallic stents (SEMSs). The network‐like porous layer of HiRINC enhances adhesion and energy dissipation, demonstrates through ex vivo and in vivo tests ...

Frailty and surgical outcomes in gastrointestinal cancer: Integration of geriatric assessment and prehabilitation into surgical practice for vulnerable patients

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 27-41, January 2023., 2023
Accumulating evidence demonstrates that the integration of preoperative geriatric assessment and prehabilitation for frail patients into clinical practice may improve perioperative and long‐term outcomes in patients with gastrointestinal cancer. We proposed an example for the integration of older patients‐specific care into treatment strategies for ...

Authoritarian States and Global Sport: The Contested Cases of Qatar, the UAE and Saudi Arabia

open access: yesSocial Sciences
Sport and authoritarianism have long been bedfellows, especially during the Cold War era. ‘Traditional’ authoritarian regimes—most notably the Soviet Union and its satellite states—learnt the art of instrumentalizing sport for political ends from each ...
