1998Geboren als Tochter vermogender Gutsleute halt sich O. fast ihr ganzes Leben auf dem Land oder in der Kleinstadt auf, ein Umstand, der ihr ein geordnetes Weltbild vermittelt. Erzogen von Gouvernanten kommt sie von 1852 bis 1857 in ein Klosterinternat in Warschau, wo sie mit Maria Wasilowska (spater: ↗ Konopnicka) Freundschaft schliest.
