Ellipses Percolation [PDF]

open access: greenJournal of Statistical Physics, 2017
We define a continuum percolation model that provides a collection of random ellipses on the plane and study the behavior of the covered set and the vacant set, the one obtained by removing all ellipses. Our model generalizes a construction that appears implicitly in the Poisson cylinder model of Tykesson and Windisch.

To the question of the method of calculating the volume of amphoras [PDF]

open access: yesArchaeoastronomy and Ancient Technologies, 2020
The article describes the methods for calculating the volume of amphoras used by modern archaeologists, and proposes a new fairly accurate method for calculating the volume of antique sharp-pointed amphoras using the example of narrow-necked light-clay ...

Seed Silhouettes as Geometric Objects: New Applications of Elliptic Fourier Transform to Seed Morphology

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2022
Historically, little attention has been paid to the resemblance between seed silhouettes to geometric figures. Cardioid and derivatives, ellipses, heart curves, lemniscates, lenses, lunes, ovals, superellipses, waterdrops, and other figures can be used ...

Design of Metasurface with Nanoslits on Elliptical Curves for Generation of Dual-Channel Vector Beams

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
The manipulations of nanoscale multi-channel vector beams (VBs) by metasurfaces hold potential applications in various important fields. In this paper, the metasurface with two sets of nanoslits arranged on elliptic curves was proposed to generate the ...

Ellipses, near ellipses, and harmonic Möbius transformations [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2005
Analytic Möbius transformations take circles to circles. This is their most basic, most celebrated geometric property. In a previous paper [\textit{M.~Chuaqui, P.~Duren} and \textit{B.~ Osgood}, J. Anal. Math. 91, 329--351 (2003; Zbl 1054.31003)], the authors introduced harmonic Möbius transformations as a generalization of Möbius transformations to ...

Architectural Characteristics of Different Configurations Based on New Geometric Determinations for the Conoid

open access: yesBuildings, 2021
The aim of this article is to orient the evolution of new architectural forms offering up-to-date scientific support. Unlike the volume, the expression for the lateral area of a regular conoid has not yet been obtained by means of direct integration or a

On a Certain Functional Equation and Its Application to the Schwarz Problem

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
The Schwarz problem for J-analytic functions in an ellipse is considered. In this case, the matrix J is assumed to be two-dimensional with different eigenvalues located above the real axis.

Construction of both Geometric Relationships of Ellipses and Parabola-bounded Regions in Geometric Placement Problems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering, 2020
Currently, there is a significant growth of interest in the practical problems of mathematically modeling the placement of geometric objects of various physical natures in given areas.

DESIGNING PITCH CURVES OF NON-CIRCULAR GEARS [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Journal of Silesian University of Technology. Series Transport, 2018
The paper examines the design and generation of gear drives with non-circular gears. Gearings with a changing transmission gear ratio are used for the purposes of practical experimentation, even though “standard” gearings with a constant transmission ...

Investigation of the Change of Acoustic Pressure in an Element of Acoustic Barrier with an Elliptical Shape

open access: yesAcoustics, 2022
In the presented article we have investigated the variation of the sound pressure level in characteristic areas around an element of an acoustic barrier with an elliptical shape at different frequencies (from 100 Hz to 2000 Hz).
