On the shape of elliptical galaxies
Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy, 1983We propose a test for the existence of prolate elliptical galaxies based on the properties of the photometric parameters introduced in the Cordoba surface photometry.

The Normal Elliptical Galaxies
Publications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, 1970About 13% of bright galaxies are ellipticals (21% SO, 64% Spiral and Im, 2% IO and peculiar). Their obvious features are the smooth luminosity distribution and the near absence of the bright blue stars, HII regions and dust that appear in spiral systems; there is probably very little star formation going on at present in E galaxies.

The Structure of Elliptical Galaxies
1988Recent imaging investigations highlight the structural diversity of elliptical galaxies. The distribution of light within the cores and envelopes shows a wide range in central and average system stellar densities at any galaxy luminosity. These variations appear to offer new information on galaxy formation mechanisms.
