Ring D modifications of ellipticine. Part 1. New ellipticine derivatives from 1-cyano-6-methylellipticine. [PDF]

open access: yesTetrahedron, 1994
Abstract New ellipticine derivatives are synthesized by modification of the cyanogroup of 1-cyano-6-methylellipticine. This resulted in the information of 1-acetyl- and 1-acetamido-6-methylellipticine. Deprotonation of 1-cyano-6-methylellipticine under the influence of a Palladium catalyst leads to a new annelated ellipticine (9).

Molecular Biology at the Quantum Level: Can Modern Density Functional Theory Forge the Path?

open access: yes, 2012
Recent years have seen vast improvements in the ability of rigorous quantum-mechanical methods to treat systems of interest to molecular biology. In this review article, we survey common computational methods used to study such large, weakly bound ...

From Synthesis to Therapeutics: Bioactive‐Coated Zein Nanoparticles in Drug Delivery

open access: yesBiopolymers, Volume 117, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Polymeric zein nanoparticles (ZNP), derived from corn protein, are biodegradable drug carriers with high stability and low synthesis costs. Their amphiphilic nature allows efficient encapsulation of both hydrophilic and lipophilic drugs, making them promising for drug delivery.

First principles view on chemical compound space: Gaining rigorous atomistic control of molecular properties

open access: yes, 2012
A well-defined notion of chemical compound space (CCS) is essential for gaining rigorous control of properties through variation of elemental composition and atomic configurations. Here, we review an atomistic first principles perspective on CCS.

Development of dairy beverages functionalized with pure ergosterol and mycosterol extracts: an alternative to phytosterol-based beverages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the present work, Agaricus bisporus extracts obtained by ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), and ergosterol, were incorporated into dairy beverages at concentrations mimicking commercial phytosterol-added yogurts, to work as alternatives.
