Toroidal MHD equilibrium of the Elmo Bumpy Torus
Nuclear Fusion, 1980Analytic toroidal equilibria of the Elmo Bumpy Torus configuration are calculated by means of an asymptotic expansion in the amplitude of the bumpiness. Equilibria containing a magnetic well are found where β is smaller than that in a high-β stellarator but comparable to or higher than that in a high-β tokamak or conventional stellarator.

A numerical analysis of flute modes in the ELMO Bumpy Torus
The Physics of Fluids, 1983Allowing for realistic magnetic field and plasma density profiles, a radial eigenvalue computer code was used to investigate flute modes in the ELMO Bumpy Torus (EBT).

Proof-of-principle test for Elmo Bumpy Torus
Physics Today, 1979We don't know whether he named it after St. Elmo's fire, or after his clever Uncle Elmo. Ray Dandl, who guided the evolution of the Elmo Bumpy Torus over the last two decades at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, won't tell. The Elmo Bumpy Torus is something of a hybrid between toroidal and mirror fusion-reactor designs.

Direct reading fast microwave interferometer for ELMO Bumpy Torus
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1984A simple and inexpensive 4-mm direct reading fast (rise time∼100 μs) microwave interferometer is described. The system is particularly useful for density measurements on the ELMO Bumpy Torus (EBT) during pulsed operation.
