Comparison of USEPA 3050B and ISO 14869-1: 2001 digestion methods for sediment analysis by using FAAS and ICP-OES quantification techniques

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2011
A study of the partial USEPA 3050B and total ISO 14869-1:2001 digestion methods of sediments was performed. USEPA 3050B was recommended as the simpler method with less operational risk.

Matching pion-nucleon Roy-Steiner equations to chiral perturbation theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We match the results for the subthreshold parameters of pion-nucleon scattering obtained from a solution of Roy-Steiner equations to chiral perturbation theory up to next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order, to extract the pertinent low-energy constants ...

Ecological acclimation: A framework to integrate fast and slow responses to climate change

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 39, Issue 8, Page 1923-1939, August 2025.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Ecological responses to climate change occur across vastly different time‐scales, from minutes for physiological plasticity to decades or centuries for community turnover and evolutionary adaptation. Accurately predicting the range of ecosystem trajectories will require

Climatic disequilibrium modulates canopy service across abiotic stress gradients

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 8, Page 2160-2172, August 2025.
The results presented indicate that abiotic stressors, combined with climatic disequilibrium, modulate the canopy service. Consequently, under future climate change scenarios that may increase stress and climatic disequilibrium, canopy service will become crucial for the maintenance of the recruiting community.

A logic of graph conditions extended with paths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we tackle the problem of extending the logic of nested graph conditions with paths. This means, for instance, that we may state properties about the existence of paths between some given nodes.
