Selection of meadow fescue for persistence under frequent defoliation

open access: yesGrassland Research, Volume 4, Issue 2, Page 131-139, June 2025.
Meadow fescue was adapted to management intensive grazing in humid temperate regions. It does not tolerate highly intensive grazing with short rest periods or residual sward heights below 5 cm. This paper documents genetic progress in selecting for improved tolerance to frequent and close grazing.

Sub‐second low‐energy electrical application effectively controls small but not established plants of scentless mayweed (Tripleurospermum inodorum), wild oat (Avena fatua) and couch grass (Elymus repens)

open access: yesWeed Research, Volume 65, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
Abstract For electrical weed control to become an efficient complement to herbicides and tillage, treatment times and energy use must be reduced. Four pot experiments were conducted, testing different voltage levels (5–20 kilovolts) and exposure times (0.2–13.5 s) to find the most efficient combination for weed control. Experiments tested (1) seedlings
