Asynchronous java accelerator for embedded java virtual machine
Proceedings of the IEEE 6th Circuits and Systems Symposium on Emerging Technologies: Frontiers of Mobile and Wireless Communication (IEEE Cat. No.04EX710), 2004In this paper, we propose a hardware accelerated Java virtual machine (JVM) based on an asynchronous Java accelerator core which can be integrated with any existing processor and operating system. The scheme of this JVM and the architecture of the Java accelerator is presented. The accelerator is targeted especially for low-power applications.

Java in eingebetteten Systemen (Java in Embedded Systems)

Compiling java for low-end embedded systems
ACM SIGPLAN Notices, 2003The production of embedded systems is continuously increasing, but developing reusable software for such systems is notoriously difficult, in particular in the case of low-end embedded systems based on 16-bit or 8-bit processors. We have developed a compilation system for executing Java byte code on low-end embedded systems, and we demonstrate how this

Embedding remote object mobility in Java RMI
Proceedings Eighth IEEE Workshop on Future Trends of Distributed Computing Systems. FTDCS 2001, 2002Mobile code offers several capabilities such as bandwidth-efficient communication, disconnected operation, and support for dynamic and flexible systems. Nevertheless, mobile code based programming paradigms have difficulty in flowing from research activities to commercial systems. The main reason seems to be the lack of integration between the language

JavaES, a Flexible Java Framework for Embedded Systems
2011Today, several strategies can be adopted in order to build a complete embedded application, including the use of software and hardware components with a reusable base to satisfy the increasing demands and requirements of actual embedded systems with shorter time to market.

Interfacing Hardware Devices to Embedded Java
2011 Brazilian Symposium on Computing System Engineering, 2011Access to hardware devices is an important requirement to be fulfilled by Java implementations targeting embedded systems because the interaction between the embedded system and the environment where it is inserted on is performed by these devices. In this paper we introduce a method for abstracting hardware devices to embedded Java applications.

Verifiable annotations for embedded java environments
Proceedings of the 2005 international conference on Compilers, architectures and synthesis for embedded systems, 2005Many implementations of Java Virtual Machine (JVM) use optimizing dynamic compilation for improving performance of Java applications. However, optimizing compilation is expensive in terms of both time and memory space complexity. Annotations are frequently used to reduce the dynamic compilation overhead in embedded Java environments where the memory ...

A Java embedded micro-kernel infrastructure
Proceedings of the 2002 joint ACM-ISCOPE conference on Java Grande - JGI '02, 2002This abstract summarizes the key ideas of the Java Embedded Micro-kernel (JEM) infrastructure that is capable of dynamically loading service modules at runtime onto devices with limited system resources.

An IP Core for Embedded Java Systems
2007This paper proposes a multithreaded Java processor as an IP core for Altera's System-on-Programmable-Chip environment. The processor core is an enhancement of the earlier developed multithreaded Java processor named Komodo. It features a real-time capable garbage collection and integrated real-time scheduling schemes. Hence, it is suitable for embedded
